It’s all about the logic behind the subject. (Sorry, I don’t have a good quote this time around… deal with it.)
I’m a big game fan, and I think do to the title of this particular piece of work, most of you should have already figured this out. But, I’m not here to push the opinion of XBOX360 vs. PS3, I’m just here to talk about logic. Although I do not honestly condone purchasing high grade electronics while portions of the world starve to death or blow up, my greedy, narcissistic, hypocritical ass already did that very thing, so I now know I can logically lead you through the jungle, to a proper waste of money.
The PS3.
Even if your not a fan of video games, (fucking losers,) the PS3 is still a fine purchase.
Why? Because most of you still love high quality sound and video for your movies.
The PS3 does that, and much more.
(Shouldn’t I be getting paid to spew this shit?)
The invention of Blue-Ray tech has blown us all away. A Blue-Ray player enhances the sound and video quality of standard DVD’s, and Blue-Ray Discs are the shiznit’O’bam-snip-sam-sam. Which is why they are so damn expensive (but due to high popularity they are getting cheaper).
But, Blue-ray players don’t have hard drives. Some cant even play music CD’s. The average price for a medium quality player is $200. If you want to live the full experience of Blue-ray, plan on spending at least $300 for the player alone.
That price should stand for the next year or more. That makes it a big waste of cash in my eyes.
New or used, the prices between a PS3 and a Blue-ray player are relatively the same.
Why waste.
PS3 is getting better and cheaper as the days pass. As I write this, you can purchase a used PS3 for $175, and a new one for $299. For that, you get a high quality Blue-Ray player, DVD, CD, and you can play PS3 games. And more.
Some Blue-ray players wont play anything but Blue-ray discs.
PS3 has it’s own hard drive. It can hold pictures, music, (whole albums) movies, (Blue-ray, and standard quality) and games ranging from the standard PS3 titles, to your favorite little internet games (Bejeweled 2 on your HD TV, etc). All new models of PS3 come with a Wi-Fi card built in and its own internet browser (Yes, you can watch YouTube in the comfort of your living room, and check your e-mail). Play Station has its own fucking store for Christ-sake where you can buy whole movies and games, and download them right there.
FUCK STANDARD BLUE - RAY.
And now… you can even watch Netflix.
So… anyway, if you want to have a kick ass home entertainment set up, go with the PS3.
If you want medium quality at medium prices, for a 45 inch screen, HD, Blue-ray, surround sound set up, your looking at spending $2,000. That’s not half bad, but… for that -- or less -- you could say fuck the XBOX360, fuck the standard Blue-ray player, and buy a PS3.
You just cant go wrong.
I bought a 37 inch screen, surround sound, HD cables, PS3, extra accessories, a wireless router, and all under $1,000.
I know a shit-head that went sideways, got half the shit I did, and managed to spend better than $2,500.
Do the right thing.
The honest thing.
Do the world a favor.
Don’t buy anything at all.
Later.
Love Randy.
(PS. As of 9-01-09 the PS3 is available in Slim Form. No more separate operating systems, but it’s worthy of all else.)
